Miami, 1991. When his bloodthirsty desires can no longer be ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to channel his inner darkness as he transforms from student to vengeful serial killer under the tutelage of his father Harry. ‘Dexter’ shares the same birthday as Michael C. Hall, February 1, 1971. In Episode 4, Blockbuster employee Deb and her friend wear navy blue short-sleeved shirts as part of their uniform. In 1991, employees wore light blue long-sleeved shirts. Short sleeves didn’t start to be worn until 4-5 years later. Dexter: Resurrection (2025) followed. I went into it with pretty low expectations and am mostly just excited about Resurrection. The beginning of the first episode was full of cutscenes and a CGI cop car and I thought “oh boy, this is going to go wrong”. By the end of the first episode, I was already eating crow, as the actors embodied their characters perfectly and the story was incredibly promising. While we already know a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff, the first episode contained a few surprises that added depth to some of the characters we’ve come to know and love, and added some background to the choices these characters make. Just one more episode and I’m hooked!
